Foundation for African Widows and Orphans
We are New Era for African Widows and Orphans, a non- profit organization committed to changing the lives of the widows and orphans in the world. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is there to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep one’s self from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
Odda Ohawa-Howard
Founder and CEO
My own story starts in a small town known as Nakuru in Kenya, East Africa. I, and my five children, between ages 10 and 2 years; Dennis, Joan, Brenda, Leonard and Terry found ourselves spending more and more time thinking and praying about what would come next after a tragic road accident in which my beloved husband was killed. I kept on wondering where I could throw my energy, passion, and love. I had a bigger vision for my life, which actually motivated me to move to Botswana South Africa to open an orphanage, day care, and feeding center. Botswana is known to have more orphans than any other African country.
Now and then I felt traumatized but fortified and wanted to do more for the world as a widow. With my wonderful exposure of widowhood, I pray that the little difference I carry out to the needy, voiceless widows and orphans may be blessed by the Almighty God and make all the difference in this world.
For me to be able to make such a move, I praise and thank my Almighty God for his heavenly blessings. My special gratitude goes to my wonderful husband (late) Dr. Charles Ben Ohawa, my precious children, my loving mother Lucia, my loving sisters, brothers, relatives, friends and well wishers who have given me courage and made it reality.
